Miu Miu is the latest international luxury brand to call King Street home.

Opening its gilded doors to Perth shoppers on 1 August, the quirky Italian label brings a sense of playful sophistication to 44 King Street, offering a full range of Ready-To-Wear clothing, shoes, handbags, and accessories.

Whilst the storefront speaks of a quiet – almost moody – elegance with its custard yellow building and tinted windows, the glittering fit-out inside couldn’t speak of a more provocative contrast. Reflecting the brand’s penchant for sartorial surprises, the floors are laid with dazzling marble, whilst the shelves have been given the Midas touch, brimming with handbags and costume jewellery with a distinctive savoir-faire.

Vibrant hues, psychedelic prints and shoes adorned with glitter and jewels that are more like collectable works of art sit alongside the more quietly elegant handbags in their signature Matelassé leather. Sunglasses evoke late sixties and early seventies vibes; just retro and groovy enough to pique the carefully considered eye of Miu Miu’s youthful demographic.

Characterised by a young and quirky femininity, the brand enjoys a respectable celebrity and cult following. Fans include Hollywood’s younger set - Elizabeth Olsen and Elle Fanning, both of whom not only count the label as personal favourites but are also the faces of Miu Miu's Spring 2014 campaign after following in the footsteps of Hollywood starlets Camilla Belle and Kirsten Dunst.

Miu Miu was established in 1993 under the guise of more affordable and more playful sister brand to Miuccia’s namesake Prada. Miu Miu Perth brings a much-anticipated dose of ‘young luxury’ to King Street, and is Australia’s third Miu Miu store, behind Melbourne and Sydney. And in a sign that the only way is up for Miu Miu, the label plans to launch a fragrance in 2015, which will be the luxury brand’s first foray outside clothes, handbags, shoes and accessories.

Miu Miu Perth is located at 44 King Street and open Monday to Sunday from 10am - 6pm.
