As one of the world’s most photographed women, Kate Moss is certainly no stranger to the chic, jet-setting lifestyle and being chased by paparazzi, whilst looking every inch the glamorous supermodel.

So it comes as no surprise that Gucci has enlisted Moss to headline the latest ad campaign for the fashion house’s Jackie Soft Bag. Named after Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis (who often swore an allegiance to Gucci handbags), The Jackie bag has been an iconic part of Gucci since it was reintroduced in 2009, and is an ode to the chic jet-set.

“I have always admired Kate,” Gucci’s creative director Frida Giannini told WWD. “She is an icon of today. A trendsetter, an independent woman and absolutely contemporary. She embodies my Fall/Winter collection as a sophisticated woman who dresses to please herself rather than others.

In the short film that Gucci debuted this week, fellow model Clément Chabernaud is alongside Kate as they flee from the paparazzi in true jet-set fashion wearing looks from the label’s F/W 2014 collection, including a leopard print topper and oversized sunglasses in true ‘Jackie O’ style. Riccardo Ruini worked as art director for the video while Anders Hallberg directed the film, on location at Rome’s Tiburtina train station and in the Roman city itself.

Industry expert Jonathan Black, founder and director of Black & Black Creative, New York, agrees that Kate Moss is a perfect fit for the role. “[Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis brings] historical context and a number of analogous tie-ins,” Mr. Black said to Luxury Daily.

“Jackie was an style icon of her time and was hounded by paparazzi,” he said. “Who can forget Ron Gallella’s images of her running away form him in Central Park?”

“Kate is also a style icon of our time and receives the same levels of media attention. Albeit a bit more rock and roll.”
